ธงชาติอาร์เจนตินา
ธงชาติอาร์เจนตินา ถือกำเนิดขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2355 ลักษณะเป็นธงสามแถบแนวนอน ประกอบด้วยแถบสีฟ้า-สีขาว-สีฟ้า ซึ่งแต่ละแถบล้วนกว้างเท่ากัน ส่วนรูปดวงอาทิตย์สีเหลืองกลางธง ซึ่งมีชื่อเรียกว่า ดวงอาทิตย์แห่งเดือนพฤษภาคม (แม่แบบ:Langx) ได้เพิ่มเข้ามาภายหลังเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2361 รูปธงที่กล่าวมานี้เป็นธงชาติสำหรับพิธีการ (แม่แบบ:Langx) หากธงนี้ไม่มีรูปดวงอาทิตย์ จะถือเป็นธงชาติสำหรับประดับตกแต่ง (แม่แบบ:Langx) แม้ธงทั้งสองอย่างนี้จะมีศักดิ์เป็นธงชาติเหมือนกัน แต่ธงชาติสำหรับประดับตกแต่งจะต้องชักไว้ต่ำกว่าธงชาติสำหรับพิธีการเสมอ
ตามหลักวิชาธัชวิทยาแล้ว จัดให้ธงชาติอาร์เจนตินาสำหรับพิธีการเป็นธงพลเรือน ธงราชการ ธงกองทัพและธงราชนาวี ส่วนธงชาติสำหรับประดับตกแต่ง จัดเป็นธงพลเรือนและธงเรือพลเรือน
ลักษณะอย่างเป็นทางการ
ขนาดสัดส่วน
นับตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2521 เป็นต้นมา สัดส่วนของธงชาติอาร์เจนตินาอย่างเป็นนั้นได้กำหนดให้มีความกว้างเป็น 9 ส่วน ยาว 14 ส่วน และแบบธงขนาดมาตรฐานนั้นเป็นธงขนาดกว้าง 90 เซนติเมตร ยาว 140 เซนติเมตร ภายในประกอบด้วยแถบแนวนอน 3 แถบ แถบบนและล่างเป็นสีฟ้า แถบกลางสีขาว แต่ละแถบนั้นกว้าง 30 เซนติเมตร ที่แถบกลางนั้นมีรูปพระอาทิตย์สีเหลืองทอง ซึ่งมีชื่อว่า ดวงอาทิตย์แห่งเดือนพฤษภาคม (แม่แบบ:Langx) รูปดังกล่าวนี้คือสัญลักษณ์ของเทพอินตี ผู้เป็นสุริยเทพตามความเชื่อของชาวอินคา อนึ่ง ยังมีการใช้ธงชาติอาร์เจนตินาที่มีสัดส่วนเป็น 1:2 และ 2:3 ด้วยเช่นกัน

ดวงอาทิตย์แห่งเดือนพฤษภาคม
ดวงอาทิตย์แห่งเดือนพฤษภาคม (แม่แบบ:Langx) อันเป็นภาพสัญลักษณ์กลางธงชาตินั้น มีต้นแบบมาจากภาพดวงอาทิตย์ในเงินเหรียญ 8 เอสคูโดของอาร์เจนตินาในปี พ.ศ. 2356 (มีค่าเท่ากับ 1 ดอลลาร์สเปนในเวลานั้น) โดยรูปด้งกล่าวมีเส้นรัศมีตรงสลับกับเส้นรัศมีคดแผ่ออกมาอย่างละ 16 แฉก
